A multidisciplinary team of professionals and technicians
composes every project. Included are forestry engineers,
biologists, forestry technicians, wildlife technicians,
and photo-interpreters. Our proficiency relies mainly on
the competency and the experience of each team member.
Our organization is comprised of multidisciplinary experts
who concentrate their efforts on the satisfaction of our
clientele.
Mister Luc Desrosiers, f. eng.
Mr Desrosiers is the technical and
administrative director for the regional offices in
the Montérégie
and the Laurentians. His principal duties involve the
realization and management of regional projects and the
development of company activities in the southwest of
Quebec . His fifteen years experience in the forestry
field have afforded him with a wide range of experience
with operations and have given him solid skills in the
fields of private property planning, forestry, and coordination
of sylviculture operations. Among other things, he has
contributed to the realization of several studies including
the dynamics and control of competitive vegetation for
Hydro Quebec as well as an impact assessment on pesticide
spraying. In addition, he has worked to develop several
experimental methods for the service of seed and seedling
production with MRN.
Mr Desrosiers has also directed
the important biological control program of mosquitoes
in Montreal in 2003-2004 for the West Nile virus (WNV)
prevention campaign (MSSS). In addition, he has taken
an active role in the coordination and supervision of
projects involving entomological surveillance and WNV
detection in mosquito populations in used tire sites
of Recyc-Québec as well as biting insect control
for the municipalities of La Prairie, Pointe-à-la-Croix,
Saint-Hubert, Sept-Îles, and others.
Mister Carlo Gagliardi, biol., f. tech.
Mr Gagliardi possesses two very complementary academic
trainings. His undergraduate degree in biology and his
college training in forestry management provided him with
managerial and administrative tools to adapt to natural
resources market trends. He possesses more than 5 years
of experience in the biting insect control field. He has
recently received specialized training in the identification,
manipulation and taxonomy of biting insects. Additionally,
Mr Gagliardi acquired excellent field expertise in the
realization and coordination of biting insect biological
control programs.
In 2003 and 2004, Mr Gagliardi acted
as project manager for important biological control
campaigns for West Nile virus prevention in Montreal
(Ministry of Health and Social Services). In addition,
he participated in the coordination of the most important
municipal nuisance program in Quebec in 2004; that of
the town of Terrebonne . He also contributed to the programs
of La Prairie, Sept-Îles, St-Hubert
and Pointe-a-la-Croix.
Mister Richard Vadeboncoeur, biol.
Mr Vadeboncoeur is a pilot and a biologist with special
training in entomology. His studies at the University of
Quebec at Trois-Riviéres (UQTR) permitted him to collaborate
with the research laboratory on biting arthropods (LRAP)
concerning the taxonomy of biting insects and the distribution
of the tick Dermacentor albipictus . His research
was conducted under the supervision of Dr Jean-Pierre
Bourrassa, professor and author of the book entitled, "The Mosquito" published
in 2000.
Mr Vadeboncoeur possesses more than 20 years experience
in both aerial and ground-level insect biological control
and was chief pilot and project manager of numerous control
programs in Canada and abroad. His extensive experience
in aerial applications and his network of canadian contacts
allows his efficient coordination of all aerial and ground-level
spraying operations.
Since 1999 he has acted as director of several biting
insect biological control programs. His dedication to these
mandates resulted in excellent success rates, with an average
nuisance reduction between 95 and 99 percent.
His recent field and laboratory work were realized within
the framework of entomological surveillance, biting insect
taxonomy, West Nile virus (WNV) detection and mosquito
and black fly biological control.
Mr Vadeboncoeur is an active member of the Ontario Vector
Control Association (OVCA). This non-profit organization
is the canadian centre for information sharing on issues
such as the propagation of WNV and other arthropod related
diseases. He is also a member of the American Mosquito
Control Association (AMCA), a major international centre
for data sharing of mosquito control and vector borne diseases.
Mister Mario Gagnon, biol.
Mr Gagnon obtained his undergraduate degree in biology
from the University of Quebec at Three Rivers (UQTR) in
2003. From the spring of that year, he began working as
assistant coordinator for GDG environment. He was in charge
of the Pierrefond sector under the provincial West Nile
virus (WNV) prevention campaign. His duties included the
surveillance and control of mosquito breeding sites. Mr
Gagnon joined Canadian Bio Services in
April 2004. He was assistant coordinator for the biological
control program for the town of Terrebonne . In charge
of a portion of the municipality, he supervised larval
surveillance, coordinated spraying operations and maintained
quality control in his assigned sector. In addition, he
participated in drawing up reports on work done and account
balances.
Mister
Sylvain Lalongé,
entomologist, M.Sc.
Mr Lalongé obtained
his masters degree in 1996 from the University of Quebec
in Montreal (UQAM) in entomology-biology for his research
on the use of spiders' voracity for the biological control
of a crucifer devastator. His avid interest in insects
led him to work at the Montreal Insectarium where he held
the position of special animator in entomology. Following
that, he became a pest management specialist with Abell
and Maheu & Maheu. His attention to detail
owes him a critical place at the heart of any quality
control department. He demonstrated his autonomy by managing
his own service territory by training technicians and
by undertaking business ventures. He joined Canadian Bio Services at
the beginning of the 2004 season. As project manager, he
was responsible for the entomological surveillance and
mosquito collections for various studies and biting insect
biological control programs associated with either nuisance
reduction or West Nile virus (WNV) prevention.
Miss Angela Goodfellow, environmental biologist/
entomologist
Ms Goodfellow obtained her undergraduate degree in environmental biology and will again graduate in June 2005 with a master's degree in entomology from McGill University . She has specialized in mosquito identification and is now responsible for the Canadian Bio Services mosquito identification laboratory. Ms Goodfellow joined Canadian Bio Services in 2003 and worked under the Recyc-Québec mosquito surveillance mandate. She was in charge of all mosquito identification for the 2003-2004 seasons; counting closed to 10,000 specimens. She is also responsible for specimen identification for all of the firm's mandates.
Mister Martin Tremblay,
f. eng.
Mr Tremblay, forestry engineer, is responsible for drawing
up digital maps, more specifically parts concerning the
characterization of sampling target sites, geomatic aspects
and remote sensing, photo-interpretation and GPS professional
support. His expertise in realizing such mandates lies
within his 6 years experience developing the geomatic department
of the group CANADIAN.
Mister Richard Bourgeois, f. tech, photo-interpreter
Forestry technician since 1987, Mr Bourgeois works as
a photo-interpreter since 1989. Presently, Mr Bourgeois
tallies more than 15 realized projects, while simultaneously
working as a head photo-interpreter and project leader.
Mr Bourgeois joined our group as a photo-interpreter. Possessing
more than 15 years experience in ecological and forestry
photo-interpretation, Mr Bourgeois is recognized a one
of the best in his field in Quebec .
Miss Caroline Flaschner, f. eng .
Ms Flaschner is a forestry engineer
who oversees the Quality Control department. She is
the internal officer for the implementation and enforcement
of the ISO 9001 standards. The Quality references documented
internally and produced for our ISO 9001 certification
are also drafted by the afor-mentioned. Lastly, Ms
Flaschner prepared the "Guide
de pratiques professionelles" for the Quebec Order of
Forest Engineers for the section describing the report
writing procedures. Ms Flaschner is also a consultant
with Hydro Quebec for a service working to develop proper
working procedures and a quality control manual for their
accreditation.
